On Christmas morning, the best present in the Boy’s stocking was the Velveteen Rabbit — brown and white with long whiskers and stuffed with fluff. The Boy loved the Velveteen Rabbit, and the Rabbit loved the Boy. When the Rabbit learns about Real from the Skin Horse, he looks for a way to become Real himself. He learns that the only way to become Real is to be loved first.
