Kate Douglas Smith Wiggin (September 28, 1856 – August 24, 1923) is an American author of children’s stories and educator. She was born in Philadelphia and had a sister Nora and a brother Philip. She is well-known by her novel “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm”. Also, she was the first who started with her sister a free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878.
